French Twist up-do Hair Tutorial

Hey friends!  Welcome!
This is my first video tutorial!  Eeek!
I tried to be as non-spastic as possible!

I apologize now for my blue tongue!  I had a piece of candy just before I filmed this... you know I can't live w/o sugar right?  :)

After I filmed these my Q was confused... mom if you're posting this on your WIW blog why would you tell people to check it out... won't they already be there?

Smarty pants!

So, since you're here at What I'm Wearing (WIW), be sure to check out CCMcAfeePerspective.com!

I hope you enjoy, and find success with this up-do.

Here are some still shots of the hair do.

A Nod... to the 50's

Hi there!
Happy Sunday to you!  I love Sunday, I love getting dressed up for church!
I'm a stay at home mom.  Although I like getting dressed and looking all fabulous during the week I don't 'dress up'.  You know, skirts, dresses etc.  Many of the ladies I visit in blog land have day jobs an thus wear skirts and more dressed up items during the week.
Not me!
This is one of the reasons I like dressing on Sunday.
It's different for me... which goes right along with the feeling I want to create as I observe my Sabbath day.

I got this cute Geoffrey Beene dress from my friend Kristy.
I love it's nod back to the 50's.
I paired it with this great wool jacket.

I pulled my hair up to a French twist... come back tomorrow for that video tutorial!

Have a wonderful Sunday!

dress: Geoffrey Beene (from Kristy!)
jacket: Marshalls
belt: Charming Charlie
shoes: Burlington Coat Factory
jewelry: all made my me... CCMakesStuff

Come back tomorrow for an easy French twist video tutorial.

Jewel Tones and Nails

Yahoo for Friday!
I have parent/teacher conferences today, the kids are in school for just half the day.
It's rainy and dark, blah, but it's Friday, yea!!!

I'm rocking my new camera remote, booyahh!
You can see it quite often while I'm posing, why do I do this?  I'm sure my neighbors think I'm so strange!!!

PS, did you know that I polka dotted these pants by myself?
I don't know that I'd do it again, because they are everywhere now, but if you can't find a pair you like you can just make them!!!
See the tutorial HERE.

I haven't posted my nails for a while.
If you are new... I do my own gel nails and I'm sold... hook, line and sinker!
I've been doing them for a few years and it is one of the little things in life that make me so happy!
I use the Gelish brands.
A while ago I went with this color which is Elegant Wish.

Then painted over with Midnight Caller

I just did my nails again last night with some new colors, for Thanksgiving.
I love this stuff!

Pastels for Winter

Fall has been amazing here in the Buff!
We've had plenty of warm days, days I've been able to get out in the sunshine and run, or cycle.
It's now turning... which I am ok with, it is November!
This morning was cold and frosty!

Fall is a time to wear warm, rich colors and now as we shift into winter, pastels can re-enter the wardrobe.

Fall is warm.
Winter is cool.

Cool lends itself perfectly to pastels.

For me, peach and pink are great winter pastels.
I love peach with olive green and I love pink with brown.

A pastel with a winter color = good combo!

I think as long as you go softer, more muted than you would in the spring, pastels work.

Here are some color combos for your pastel inspiration... via design seeds.  Yuum right?  I love these winter photos, they make me feel all cozy!

Here is my winter pastel look.
I went with peach.  I have these pants that have just a hint of gold glitter in them.
I kept both top and bottom the same color... unusual for me!

I love this lacy top, I definitely needed a jacket to keep me warm!
I sported some animal print shoes, but you could sass this up with heels for an evening look.

Plaid with Stripes

Hi friends!
It is frosty cold here today!
We are back from Philadelphia, the race went great.
I'll post about that next week.

I can't believe Thanksgiving is right around the corner.  I'm getting excited!
I so love the holidays.
I need to get myself into the spirit!

I've worn a couple of outfits with plaid as of late.
I even got myself a new plaid top so now I have three!
I haven't ventured into the plaid on bottom, but maybe soon.

I'm just realizing now I paired both of these plaid tops with large stripes.
I'm totally digging that... obviously enough to wear it!
I think the large stripe is fine with the plaid, and it adds more interest than a plain color.

I went with a boot cut jean for this look, and a heeled short boot, makes me taller, and feel thinner!

shirt: target
sweater: marshalls
jeans: downeast basics
boots: payless (old)

This next look I went with a skinny jean and riding boot.
And now the plaid is on the outside with the stripe inside!

both tops and jeans: old navy
boots: marshalls
